Super place for a family holiday

We went to Marrakech and Villa Olives in order to celebrate an important family birthday and had the most lovely time, 8 persons in ages 7 - 74. The house is beautiful with lots of space and elegantly decorated, the garden and swimmingpool perfect for our family life. We were invited to pick fresh oranges from the trees. The children enjoyed also the coq (that would wake us up in the morning) and the tortoise they dicovered one day in the grass. The calm and comfort of the villa and the garden and the welcoming attitude of our host Mohamed was a wonderful contrast to the hectic life in the city of Marrakech where we went by bus - it stopped just outside in the street. We were lucky to have fine weather most of the time. Also inside we could enjoy ourselves in the spacious rooms at our disposition. We cooked meals on the gas stove. The kitchen equipment lacked some of the things we are used to but on the whole we managed very well and enjoyed our meals. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped as well as elegant.

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad! 6 Slaapkamers met allemaal twee bedden en een eigen badkamer! 's morgens kwam er iemand om de hele boel weer op te ruimen, geef haar wat extra dirhams en ze doet ook de afwas. Wij hadden ervoor gekozen om elke morgen het ontbijt te laten verzorgen door Mohammed, voor 5 euro per persoon. Heerlijk ontbijt en alles wordt klaar gezet (buiten) en weer opgeruimd! Heerlijk groot huis. Tip 1: de bus (lijn 16) stopt een eindje naar rechts buiten de poort, voor 4 dirham (0,40 eurocent)rij je naar het centrum (eindstop). Ga met de taxi terug, er staan er vele, voor ongeveer 50 dirham voor een drie persoons taxi(afdingen!) Tip 2: Durf af te dingen, het is heel normaal om dat te doen en je kunt ver gaan. Voor een leren riem, bijvoorbeeld, wordt in eerste instantie soms wel 180 dirham gevraagd, je kunt zakken tot ongeveer 30 dirham. Dit is niet zielig, daarna noemen ze je "mijn vriend" en kennen ze je de dag erna nog. En omdat het niet duur is kun je in verschillende kraampjes wat kopen, en er zijn er vele in de souk. Tip 3: Spreek excursies af in Marrakesh bij een reis bureau, daar spreken ze engels, je kunt daar ook de afspraak maken dat de chauffeur stopt als jij dat wilt. Tip 4: Ga een keer eten in een berber dorpje, het wordt op prijs gesteld en is erg goedkoop. Mensen zijn erg vriendelijk, neem je tijd om te ten. Tip 5: Laat je niet onder de hoede nemen van een gids, zij brengen je zeker niet naar de plek waar je heen wilt! Koop een platte grond en je kunt het zelf vinden.
