You’ll find yourself in one of the best-preserved historic towns in all of Istria. The older part of Labin is located on a hilltop, 320 metres above sea level and overlooking a picturesque valley. You’ll be able to see across to neighbouring Rabac and the island of Cres. The town has a distinct Venetian character, with a number of buildings dating to the time that Labin was under Venetian rule – these include the cathedral, with its 15th Century facade and the Palazzo Lazzarini, amongst a number of others. If you’d like to take a more in-depth look at the town’s origins and history you could head for the Town Museum, which boasts a range of archaeological exhibits, and models. Elsewhere you’ll be able to browse the interesting local shops and take a break at the quaint cafes here. On the coast and just a few minutes by car from Labin is the town of Rabac. It’s considered to be one of the coastal top destinations in the region thanks to its extensive facilities for recreation, including bike rentals, water sports and tennis. It’s also ideal for families as the beaches here sit next to quiet waters, perfect for younger children and less proficient swimmers to enjoy.
