The city of gruissan
gruissan is a French commune in the south of France, located in the department of Aude in the region of Occitania. It is a seaside resort and a village in the Gulf of Lion located in the urban area of Narbonne, between the Clape Massif and the Mediterranean Sea. The village, between the pond of Gruissan and the pond of Grazel, consists of alleys circulating around a big block of limestone on which are the remains of an old castle, the tower Barberousse. The village is a circulade.
Several extensions of the village are remarkable: Gruissan-Plage built on the lido separating the Grazel pond from the sea, the seaside resort and its marina, the fishing village of the Ayrolle Pond. The island of Saint-Martin separates the village from the Ayrolle pond, it shelters only the fishing village of the pond on its south bank, some wine estates and the salt marshes of Saint-Martin to the 'East. Similarly on the part of the Clape massif located in the town, the habitat is limited to rare scattered areas.
The principal ponds of the commune of Gruissan are the pond of Ayrolle and the pond of Campignol which prolongs it in the northeast, the pond of Gruissan, the pond of Grazel which gives access to the basins of the port and the pond of Mateille.
