Shared House is a small French family business. From the start, our service has supported direct relationships between owners and guests, with no booking commission and no attempt to lock users into an exclusive platform.
How it started
It began with a family calendar
Shared House grew from a simple need: helping members of the same family manage the occupancy calendar of a shared property. Who is coming, when, and which dates are still available?
The calendar was later extended to rental enquiries. Owners could list their property and share availability directly with guests, while keeping control of their listing and conversations.
Our model
Free, because we believe in the open web
Listing a property and using the calendar remain free. The service is funded by advertising and Booster, an optional feature that gives a listing more visibility. We charge no commission on rentals.
No exclusivity
You are free to use other services and manage your contacts in the way that suits you.

The small independent among giant platforms
Over the years, most holiday rental websites adopted the model popularised by Airbnb: more intermediation, platform-controlled conversations and steadily increasing fees. Booking.com, Vrbo and others also favour closed ecosystems.
Shared House chose another path. We remain true to the original web: a useful, open and straightforward tool that connects people without trying to become an unavoidable middleman. We are tiny next to these groups, but we are still here after all these years.
