Review written by Zoe the 03/20/2013 for a stay in 3/2013
My husband and I stayed in this cottage for two weeks during March 2013. We love walking so we came to this area to do the walks in this guide book: http://www.walking.demon.co.uk/axarquia.htm. We wanted somewhere quiet, secluded and beautiful to stay and we weren't disappointed with Casa Martin. The cottage was spotlessly clean with a comfy sofa and bed, and well appointed with everything you could possibly need including wifi. Even though it was pretty cold when we visited, especially at night, we could still watch the sunsets from the fantastic jacuzzi (we used this every night!) and keep warm by the woodburning stove in the evenings. We've walked in lots of parts of Spain, but really loved this area. There are many low and high level walks to choose from in the Sierra de Tejeda and Sierra de Almijara Parques Naturales. The owners, Bob and Gunny, live nearby and were extremely helpful with anything we needed, but the rest of the time gave us our privacy which we like. The cottage is situated in a secluded spot in the mountains, but is easily accessible for the pretty, white local villages and for other destinations such as the coast, Malaga and Granada. The views from the cottage are fantastic. You can see the sea and the mountains of Morocco from the terrace of the cottage! But you can't see the concrete jungle of the coastal towns - so it suited us perfectly. We loved it here and can't wait to get a chance to come back again.
